My wife has a bunch of really attractive friends, and she expects me to never say anything to her about how beautiful they are. Does this seem fair? I love my wife, and just commenting shouldn’t hurt anything, right?

Case in point: When I was 17, I began dating a guy who was living with a boy that I had had a few classes with when I was a freshman and sophomore in high school (ages 14–15). At any rate, clearly I had changed a lot in those 2 years and he sure let me know it. Those were the days before the Internet, when teenagers did not look like 25 year olds. We didn't know how to dress or do our makeup or do our hair. It was the rare beauty who was naturally gorgeous, who looked great in jeans and a T-shirt, no makeup, with hair that was smooth and silky even after sleeping on it wet.
